Shiver me Timbers: Bison face the Pirates

The Sherfield School Basingstoke Bison will be looking to stop the Hull Pirates from taking the booty from Basingstoke this Saturday when the sides meet.

So far the series between these sides is dead level at two games all with the home side having won every time.

The last game in Basingstoke saw the Herd enjoy a 6-1 victory, as they racked up a massive 70 shots on netminder Vlastimil Lakosil, as he had a very busy night.

The game saw the Pirates' leading goal scorer Andrej Themar continue his scoring record against the Herd this season with their lone strike.

Since that visit a fortnight ago, Hull have appointed their top British forward Jason Hewitt as head coach and having also signed defenceman Luke Boothroyd from the Manchester Phoenix.

For the Bison this weekend, it will see the return of Ivan Antonov and Stuart Mogg from a fortnight away on international duty and Joe Miller could also be back from injury, meaning the Herd would have a complete line-up.

The Herd suffered a rare blank last weekend after losing to the top two, so they will be keen to return to winning ways.

Bison head coach Doug Sheppard said: "After the disappointment of last weekend. We will be looking to get back to winning ways to give our great fans something to cheer about.

"Now we enter the final games of the season, we will look to start to gear up for the play-offs and start to get a winning run going again."

Tickets for Saturday's game which starts at 6.30pm are still available from the Basingstoke Arena box office on (01256) 355266 or via the Bison website.

On Sunday night, the Bison travel to Hull to complete a double weekend with the Pirates in a game which gets under at 5.30pm.
