Bison ready for Select test

The Sherfield School Basingstoke Bison will take a break from league action on Saturday night as they take on a National Ice Hockey League Select team.

Players from a number of teams will come together to take on the Herd on home ice in a game which starts at 6.30pm.

This game is part of the season ticket package and replaces one of the home games lost by the demise of the Manchester Phoenix.

The Herd are expected to be without defenceman Dan Scott for the game, while netminder Tomas Hiadlovsky will be rested, which means Dan Weller-Evans will be the Herd's starting goalie for the match.

Looking ahead to Saturday's home game, head coach Doug Sheppard said: "It was a real shame what happened to Manchester, but this gives the chance for the guys to play without any pressure. I always think it is better to play to keep your sharpness, which is good for us as we have important game on Sunday."

Tickets for Saturday's game are available from the box office on (01256) 355266 or on the Bison website.

On Sunday, the Bison travel for the final time this season to Peterborough, to face the Phantoms, a game which could settle who is going to finish third in the standings.
