Bison out to scorch the Flames

The Sherfield School Basingstoke Bison have just one burning ambition on Saturday, which is to end the Guildford Flames winning run on their home ice this season.

The sides clash for a final time in the regular season on Saturday (6.30pm face-off) at the Basingstoke Arena, with the Flames hoping to complete a clean sweep of wins in Hampshire.

On their two previous visits they were victorious 2-0 and 4-2 and also won the two of the three games at the Spectrum - so lead the league series 4-1.

The Herd could well lock horns with the Flames again in the play-off group stages, so they will be keen to put down a marker ahead of this, against their Surrey rivals.

The Bison come into the game after two great wins, at home to Milton Keynes and away in Peterborough, as they look to gear up for the play-offs.

Vanya Antonov and Tomas Karpov are expected to be back in the line-up and injured Dan Scott could also return.

Looking ahead to the game, Bison head coach Doug Sheppard said: "Guildford have had our number at home so far this season, so we will be looking to end this and keep up our good home form going into the final weekend of the season."

Tickets for the local derby are still available from the Basingstoke Arena box office on (01256) 355266 or from the Bison website.

On Sunday, the Bison have a road game at the Sheffield Steeldogs which has a 5.30pm start time.
