Sutton and Dewey return homeThe Sherfield School Basingstoke Bison are delighted to announce the signing of Elliott Dewey and Ryan Sutton.
Both British players started their careers in Basingstoke and played for the Herd in the EPL and the Basingstoke Buffalo.
Basingstoke-born defenceman Dewey was a teenager, when he first pulled on a Bison shirt in 2013. The following year he joined South One outfit Invicta Dynamos.
The 20-year-old stay at home blue liner, has spent the next three seasons with the Gillingham-based side collecting 29 points from 113 games and won the play-offs earlier this year.
Forward Sutton has only played for home town Basingstoke in Britain which includes 48 appearances in the EPL, of which 41 were in the Herd's league championship winning campaign.
Last year, the 22-year-old spent a season away in Canada, where he played in the Greater Metro A League starting with the Komoka Dragons and finishing it with the Tottenham Steam.
In total he returned 27 points from 32 games and while at the Steam played 12 games on defence after an injury crisis hit his team.
Bison head coach Doug Sheppard is really pleased to add these two players to the Herd said: "Both are great young talents. Elliott (Dewey) first played for the Bison he was too young and since then he has progressed well at Invicta and I am pleased to see him back in a Bison shirt. Ryan comes back from Canada and I am sure like Moggy (Stuart Mogg) this has improved his game."
Defenceman Dewey is looking forward to ice for the Herd again and said: "I take pride in being a defenceman first and foremost. I will look forward to going back to Invicta and must thank coach Kevin Parrish for signing me there.
"I enjoyed last season winning the play-offs and I hope to win trophies with Bison now. I think it will be a very competitive league with the number of players coming into from the EPL."
Sutton's dream was always to play for the Herd and is really pleased to be back and said: I enjoyed my year away in Canada and I feel I have matured as a player. I won the league when I last played for the Bison and I would love to do that again."
