Basingstoke Bison - EPL Champions
2nd of November 2017

Weekend Preview - Thunder and Tigers lie ahead

It’s a full weekend of ice hockey this weekend for the Basingstoke Bison who face the Milton Keynes Thunder on home ice on Saturday night in the NIHL and Sunday take to the road to face Telford Tigers in the National Cup.

The Thunder are experienced campaigners in the NIHL and there’s a lot of former MK Lightning players who’ll be lining up in the Thunder uniform including Lewis Christie, Ross Green, Tom Carlon, Grant McPherson along with a hatful of talented players who’ve all had EPL experience.

Sunday night will be a tough challenge as the Tigers have already triumphed twice over the Bison this season. It’s a National Cup game so there’s high stakes for all of those now with the Herd not having the best of starts in the season in that competition. The Tigers have made the addition of Scott McKenzie to their roster since the teams last met.

With Dan Davies having returned to the team last weekend it’s hoped further injured players will make their return this weekend as the Herd gets closer to full strength.

Head Coach Doug Sheppard said; “We worked hard to get two good wins last weekend. We know we didn’t have the start to the season we wanted but we’ve been working hard to produce momentum and results and I want us to carry that on this weekend. If we play to our best we have a good chance of keeping our winning run going.

Bison are at home on Saturday at 6.30pm to the Milton Keynes Thunder. Sunday’s road trip is a 6.00pm face off at the Telford Ice Arena against the Tigers.
