Darius Pliskauskas scored the opening goal of the game at 4.41 when he converted a powerplay but an even strength Grant Rounding goal at 8.37 levelled up the game.

A good second period saw the Bison open a two goal lead as Aaron Connolly (20.39) and Roman Malinik (32.39) netted for 1-3 at the end of the middle frame. As good as had been the Bison second period the Phantoms put in for the final period. Ales Padelek scored at 40.40 on the powerplay and Leigh Jamieson equalised with 1.22 remaining.

The 3 on 3 overtime period passed with no scoring and the game headed to penalties. Ales Padelek and Aaron Connolly shot first for their teams and were both saved. Darius Pliskauskas and Dan Davies went next and both also failed to score. Owen Griffiths was the Phantoms third shooter and when he scored it meant Bison had to score their third shot. Roman Malinik’s shot being saved gave Phantoms the win on their home ice.

Following the weekend’s fixtures Bison Head Coach Doug Sheppard said; “That was our most complete weekend of the season so far. I’m really pleased with the effort and execution. We played a really solid 125 minutes of hockey and I thought we were unlucky not to get the result on Saturday. I thought we carried on our hard work on Sunday and got the result we deserved reaching ten straight league wins.

He added; “It’s a real shame we didn’t get the result on Saturday. We took loads of fans with us on Saturday and had great support and it would have been nice to reward them with a win.
