Weekend Preview - A tough weekend ahead

This weekend will be a tough weekend for the Sherfield School Basingstoke Bison Ė thatís the message from Head Coach Doug Sheppard as his team take on Peterborough on home ice Saturday and Streatham away on Sunday.

The Phantoms are proving one of the top clubs in the National Ice Hockey League this year with two quality imports and a roster of quality Brits too. Sundayís opponents proved tricky in their own barn a month back and then went on to turn over the Bison last Saturday ending the winning run in this seasonís league.

Head Coach Doug Sheppard looked ahead to the weekend; ďItís going to be a tricky weekend! We have Joe Baird missing through an injury he picked up last weekend, Vanya Antonov is away with University and Josh Smith has been called up for GB which is a great thing for him and the Bison organisation. We wish him the best of luck, Iím sure he'll do well and represent the himself and the club in a positive way.

ďWith these guys out the line up it presents us a very tough weekend. We looked like a tired team last weekend and were made to pay on Saturday so know we're going to have to play extremely hard this weekend but also play extremely smart too and make up for the guy that are missing.

He continued; ďIím hopeful we may get Roman Malinik back in the line up which will be a massive boost to what will be an incredibly short benched team. We will be giving 100% this weekend and hope to reward our loyal supporters with maximum points after a less than perfect weekend last weekend.Ē

Bison take on Peterobough Phantoms on home ice at 6.30pm Saturday in the Autumn Cup ahead of a league match in Streatham at 6.45pm on Sunday.
