Weekend Preview - Bees start a busy festive period

Sherfield School Basingstoke Bison Captain Aaron Connolly is calling on his team mates to search for one more win before Christmas when they take on Bracknell Bees as their only opponents of the weekend.

In what starts a busy festive period for the Herd they take on their near neighbours in an M3 derby in the National Ice Hockey League having already played them in the National Cup. The last time these two teams met, almost a month ago, Bison ran out comfortable 6-1 winners which is part of a nine game losing run for our opponents. A win on Saturday would see the Bison top the league table for Christmas.

Last time the Bison played the Bees both teams had absences from the team. Frankie Bakrlik has returned to the Bees line up while Bison should be at full strength with Josh Smith back from GB Under 20s duty and Head Coach Doug Sheppard back with the team.

Looking forward to the weekend clash Captain Aaron Connolly said; “This weekend will be our first league game against one of the ex-EPL teams so we will definitely be looking to keep up our good run of form. Bracknell are a hard working team with a good mix of youth and experience that have had a tough time getting results in recent weeks. I have no doubt they will turn up ready to battle on Saturday . We come into the weekend with a full roster for the first time in many weeks and we’re ready to go into the short Christmas break with a win.

After Christmas Eve and Christmas Day off the Bison are at Swindon on Boxing Day for a 4pm face-off in the National Cup ahead of the Herd’s next home game on Wednesday 27th December when Swindon visit for the return National Cup fixture with face-off set for 7pm.
