Sheppard Turns Down New Contract …

It is with deep regret that the Basingstoke Bison have to announce that Doug Sheppard has not accepted a new contract to coach the team for the 2018/19 season.

Speaking on behalf of the Bison, John Neville said,

“On Saturday afternoon I received a phone call from Doug telling me that he would not be accepting the new contract we had offered him as Director of Ice Hockey Operations of the Basingstoke Bison for the forthcoming season 2018 / 19.”

“Doug has been the backbone and driving force of the club since he returned to the Bison in the 2012/13 season and has been instrumental in delivering significant success for the club.

We wish Doug and Belinda well for the future and would like to thank him for all he has done for the club”.

As the news has come as a shock to the club we are unable to provide anymore news at the present time.

Since 2009 when Planet Ice took over the day to day operations of the Bison we have always endeavoured to provide the right structure and to make the right decisions for the club and we will once again do our utmost to find the best person possible to lead the Herd going forwards.

We, as I am sure the fans are, are extremely disappointed with this news especially as we now have the results back from the structural survey and and we are in a position to continue to ice a Bison team into the future.

We will keep the Bison fans up-to-date on the situation as and when we can via the clubs website and social media platforms.
