Young guns return for the Herd…

As recruitment continues for the Basingstoke Bison Coach Tait is pleased to announce a trio of local born youngsters to the Herds roster as Hallam Wilson, Cameron Buckle and Oscar Evans have all agreed terms for the forthcoming year.

Born in Winchester, 20 year old Hallam Wilson signs for a second term for the Herd having come through the Junior ranks at the club, Hallam played 42 games for the herd last term and has started to become a fan’s favourite to the Herd faithful. He stands 5’11”, weighs 168 lbs and shoots left.

Coach Tait had this to say about the signing of Hallam, “I have heard great things about young Hallam and really believe he can forge a great career at the Bison”.

On agreeing terms with the Herd, Hallam said, “I’m excited for the upcoming season. I can’t wait to get to work and learn from Ash who is arguably the greatest British goal scorer. Last year was a lot of fun but this year feels special, Basingstoke has a statement to make and I’m over the moon to be part of this team. Let’s get to work”.

The second signing is local born and bred youngster Cam Buckle, 18 year old Buckle, has come through the junior ranks representing the Junior Bison at U18 and U20 whilst also icing in senior hockey for the Buffalo and the Bison. Last season’s U18 team captain joins the Herd full time for the forthcoming campaign. Cam is 5’9” weighs 141 lbs and shoots left.

Our third signing is 16 year old, Basingstoke born Oscar Evans, Oscar will split his ice time this campaign between the NIHL and the U18 Bison rosters, Oscar recently represented South West of England at the EIHA Conference weekend.

Coach Tait commented on signing the three young guns, “After talking to other coaches at club, conference and national level I felt it was important that these guys are given every chance to play and excel this year. They are all young and need time to develop but deserve a chance. My hope is that they make it difficult for me to not put them on the ice”.

Ashley continued, “The three youngsters come highly recommended and I must thank Simon Beere and the Junior club for their support and guidance in assisting me build the roster so far, I look forward to working closely with them and watching more Bison Juniors mature and develop into our senior players of the future”.
