Liam Joins the Herd …

Yesterday’s social media vote was only separated by 1 vote and as if we haven’t given you enough good news this week already please welcome to the “Trane sponsored Basingstoke Bison” 23 year old Liam Morris.

Scottish born, Liam joins the roster having last season played for Northern Federals in the FHL across the pond and prior to that iced for the Toronto Attack in the Greater Metro Hockey League where in 2015 / 16 he played for the World team in the All Star game.

During his time at the Attack Liam played 143 games scoring 152 points (52 goals and 100 assists) and 423 minutes in penalties.
Standing 5’9” tall and weighing 163 lbs, left shot Liam represented Great Britain in the 2013 / 14 World championships and has represented Scotland at the Junior National Conference tournament at U13, U15 and U 17 level.

Liam comes from an ice hockey family with many Bison fans having watched his father Frank play at the Basingstoke arena during his illustrious wearing the jerseys of the Ayr Bruins and Fife Flyers and also representing the Great Britain Senior team.

On signing for the Herd Liam said, “I'm excited to finally come home and play hockey in the country where I grew up. When I was looking at what options I had, I felt Basingstoke had the best opportunity for me and I'm excited to become a part of this great club. I can't wait to get started”.

Coach Tait commented, “I'm really pleased and excited to get Liam's signature, he's a great addition to the roster. He can play forward or defence, in all situations and brings an energy to the ice that everyone can feed off. He's got great speed, creates chances through that and has a great touch around the net. I think the fans will enjoy watching him play”.

As Liam is a new player for the Bison, after 48 hours all applications will be reviewed and if necessary a Facebook Live draw will be organised where Assistant Coach Tony “Tosh” Redmond will pick out the winners.
