The Bison, playing their 3rd game in 4 days travelled to Wiltshire, to face the Swindon Wildcats who only had the one game this weekend. Before the game, Wildcats only needed 2 wins from their remaining 4 games to be crowned League Champions. Would they only need one win after today?

Mr Matthews was again the ref and he dropped the puck to get us under way. The game started at a furious pace as expected. It would be the Bison that took the lead though, when Tommy Ralph surged down the left wing, cut inside and played a pass to try and pick out Ashley Tait at the back post. Unfortunately for Swindon, but lucky for Bison, the d-man marking Tait managed to get his stick on the puck first and it redirected past Marr in the Wildcats net. Goal timed at 4.38.

Floyd Taylor took the first penalty, when he was given a Hooking penalty at 9.06. But Wildcats would kill the penalty successfully.

Swindon levelled the score when Edgar Bebris followed up a Maxim Birbraer shot, and buried the puck past Mettam. Whitfield also assisting goal, timed at 16.32.

Adam Jones picked up a Cross Check penalty at 17.07, but Bison would kill off the penalty.

At end of 1st Period, the scores were tied at 1 each.

The 2nd Period started and Wildcats picked up a penalty, when Neil Liddiard was called for Holding at 22.40. Bison would only need 12 secs to score, when after a goalmouth scramble, George Norcliffe would poke the puck through Marr's five hole. Jones and Harding getting assists on the goal.

Wildcats would hit more penalty trouble when, Floyd Taylor with a Slashing call (22.52) and then Chris Jones with a Cross Check penalty (23.46), gave Bison a 5-on-3. They took full advantage, when Michal Klejna beat Marr short side at 24.23, assisted by Russ Cowley.

Bison would then find themselves down 2 men when, Alex Sampford picked up a Tripping call (25.46) and then Elliott Dewey with a Hooking call (26.12), gave Wildcats a golden opportunity. Of course, they took it. Sam Jones ripping an unstoppable slap shot past Mettam at 27.07. Nell & Birbraer collecting assists.

At 31.47, Elliott Dewey was rushed into clearing the puck, but it sailed over the plexi, causing a Delay of Game penalty. Bison would see off the penalty.

Entering the final minute of the period and Bison would pick up another minor penalty. Hallam Wilson and Floyd Taylor becoming entangled on the ice, Taylor tried to get free, but his stick appeared to get caught under Hallam’s arm and Matthews would penalise him, for Holding the Stick (39.47).

The 2nd Period ended with Bison holding a slender 3-2 lead going into the third period.

The 3rd period started with Wildcats still on the powerplay. It didn't take long for them to score and tie the game up. Toms Rutkis poking the puck through Mettam's pads, much like Norcliffe's goal earlier in the game. Goal timed at 40.37. Nell and Birbraer collecting assists.

Bison were holding on, but the longer the game went on, their legs must've been getting heavy, after playing 3 games in 4 days.

Ashley Tait took a Hooking call at 49.23 and, unfortunately, Wildcats would make it count. Chris Jones sniping a shot past Mettam, after Alex had saved a Sam Jones blast from the point. Nell again with an assist on goal, timed at 50.35.

Having broken Bison's resolve, Swindon looked much stronger and they would score again, when Birbarer set up Sam Jones and his shot was brilliantly saved by Mettam, but Jones would pounce to beat Alex on the rebound, timed at 53.14.

Now two goals down, Bison set about trying to get a reply, but every foray forward, got extinguished by the Wildcats defence. Adam Jones picked up another minor penalty, this time a High-Sticks call at 54.11. The PK unit would successfully kill the penalty and Bison returned to full strength.

Time was running out for Bison. We entered final 2 minutes of the game and although they must've been dead on their feet, they kept pushing to try and score. Into the final minute and with Mettam looking to the bench awaiting the call to go, Bison managed a breakthrough at 59.26, Michal Klejna finishing expertly, with Tait assisting. Pretty much from the restart, Alex scampered to the bench for the extra man. They managed to get Marr to freeze the puck with 22 secs left. Wildcats won the face-off and cleared the zone, but back came the Bison. Another whistle stopped play, but with only 8 secs left, it had to happen now. Again, Bison failed to win face-off and Wildcats held on for the narrow victory.

The Final Score reading Wildcats 5 Bison 4.
