Further to the briefing note issued by Basingstoke Council on the 24th June 2020 Planet ice felt it was appropriate to expand on the contents of the note and are delighted that all of the parties involved are keen to work together to overcome the historic obstacles and to obtain a positive outcome for the communities of Basingstoke and the surrounding area.

Netminding Duo Re-sign for 2019 / 20 Season

As exclusively revealed at last weeks End of Season event the Herds first signings for 2019 / 20 are the goaltending duo of Alex Mettam and Dan Weller Evans.

Born in Sheffield, 31-year-old netminder Alex commences his second season with the Trane sponsored Basingstoke Bison having had a standout year which culminated in Alex being awarded the Players Player of the Year at last week’s event. Alex achieved a .906 % save average during last seasons 38 league game season which was his highest save percentage since 2012 / 13 season when he iced for the Milton Keynes Lightning.

The second re-signing announced at the evening is fan’s favourite Dan Weller Evans who will once make up the second part of Coach Tait’s goaltending duo. 25-year-old Dan is no stranger to the Bison faithful having iced for the herd for the last five seasons.

On his re-signing for the Bison Alex said, “I really enjoyed my hockey last season and I can’t wait to get started come September Dan and I feed off each other and that can only be good the team as we begin our assault for silverware”.

Dan commented, “It’s an absolute honour and privilege to be back with the team for my 6th season with my childhood club, I’m literally living the dream! Off ice Summer training has started and I’m hoping to be back fitter and stronger and ready to have a real good go next season”.

Alex is 5’8”, catches left and weighs 141lbs and Dan is 6’0” weighs 157 lbs and also catches left

On re-signing his goaltending duo Coach Tait said, “Obviously really pleased to have secured both Alex and Dan again for another year. They both work really well together day in day out and both have a team first mentality regardless of who's playing. They both have big roles again this year and to have them signed straight away is a great start for us.
