Cardiff Youngster Returns for Second Term

As exclusively revealed this morning by Graham Merry in the Basingstoke Gazette, the Trane sponsored Basingstoke Bison are pleased to announce that Defenceman Sam Smith will be returning for a second season in a Bison uniform.

17-year-old, Welshman Sam joined the Bison last term having been part of the Cardiff Junior organisation and playing in the NIHL 1 & 2 Cardiff Fire teams.
Sam iced in 40 games for the Herd last season scoring 3 points (1 goal and 2 assists) and conceding 18 minutes in penalties.

Coach Tait said on the re-signing of Sam, “I think Sam will be a lot more settled and we will start to see him push some of the older guys for ice time. He's only 18 and has all the tools we just need to start to help him put it all together to progress”.

On re-signing for the Herd Sam commented, “I really enjoyed my first season in Basingstoke, we had a great team and it was a real shame not to win anything. I’m excited to be back and hopefully be able to bring trophies back to Basingstoke for the fans. I cannot wait to get back in September and play in front of the passionate stampede fans”.

Sam will wear once again wear the number 73 jersey for the Bison and his jerseys (Light, Dark * Home warm up) are now available to ‘Own and Loan’ through our ever popular Own and Loan scheme please send your application to hello@bstokebison.co.uk
