WEEKEND PREVIEW: Phantoms & Steeldogs for the Herd

This weekend sees the Trane sponsored Basingstoke Bison in NIHL National division action on Saturday evening at the Basingstoke Arena with the second visit of the Peterborough Phantoms and then a journey North on Sunday to face the Steeldogs at Ice Sheffield.

Saturday’s game is expected to barn stormer with the Herd looking to reverse the 5 – 1 defeat at the hands of the Phantoms last Sunday. In pre-season the Herd came out on top in a 3 -2 overtime victory here at the Basingstoke Arena.

Coach Tait commenting ahead of Saturdays game said, “We obviously need to bounce back from the road defeat on Sunday and there’s no better way than coming up against the same opponents. Both teams are evenly matched across their rosters and we expect another hard-fought game against the Phantoms”.

Ashley continued, “If teams don’t turn up to play every night this season then results will not go in your favour - Tosh & I will prepare the boys and we will be having some hard sessions this week during practice”.

Tickets are available in advance by calling 01256 355266, at the box office for personal callers or online by clicking here and on the door.

Sunday’s game at Ice Sheffield versus the Steeldogs faces off at the earlier time of 4.30pm.

The Steeldogs roster has been strengthened this season by the signing of 2-way players from the Sheffield Steelers Kieran Brown, Jordan Griffin and Alex Graham as well as Player Coach Ben Morgan, Forward Ashley Calvert and netminder Dmitri Zimozdra.
