WEEKEND PREVIEW: It's Raiders in Town & On the Road to Telford

This coming weekend sees the Trane Basingstoke Bison in NIHL National league action. First we welcome 4th placed Raiders to town on Saturday for a game which is expected to attract a large crowd, face off is 6.30pm, followed on Sunday by a road trip to take on 2nd placed Telford, face off for this game is 6.00pm.

Saturday’s game will give the Bison who currently sit 6th in the table the opportunity to level the series following their recent loss in Romford. Led by former Bison favourite Aaron Connolly, Raiders inflicted a heavy defeat on the Bison, and in addition to Aaron, former Bison players Dan Scott,Jacob Ranson and JJ Pitchley are likely to feature in their line up.

New import 23 year old Lukas Sladkovsky looks to have quickly become a favourite of the Gold & Blue Army, while Blahoslav Novak leads the goal scoring with 7, followed Brandon Ayliffe & Jake Sylvester on 4 each.

Sunday’s trip to Shropshire to face the in-form Tigers will be the 2nd meeting between the teams this season. In the opening league game on home ice the Bison took the points with a thrilling 7-5 win, since when Tigers are unbeaten, winning in Romford and securing home victories against Leeds, Wildcats and the Pirates.

Much like the Bison, Telford have a number of highly promising young players in their roster, including Corey Goodison, Oliver Lord and 16 year old Finley Howells who are expected to line up alongside the experienced trio of Jason Silverthorn, Jonathon Weaver & Rick Plant. New import Dominic Florián is their leading goal scorer with 5, ahead of the evergreen Scott McKenzie.
