This weekends NIHL National league action sees the Trane Basingstoke Bison at home to Leeds Chiefs on Saturday, and away to MK Lightning on Sunday.

Saturday’s game at the Silverdome which has a 6.30pm face off, will be the Chiefs 3rd appearance in Basingstoke this season, but only their 2nd as the visiting side.

WEEKEND PREVIEW: Double Header Weekend Versus the Phantoms

It’s a double helping of the Peterborough Phantoms this weekend in the NIHL National league for the Trane Basingstoke Bison, firstly at the Silverdome on Saturday night with a face off 6.30pm, before travelling to Cambridgeshire on Sunday, face off at the Bretton rink is 5.30pm.

The Phantoms, coached by Slava Koulikov and captained by James Ferrara, occupy 3rd place and are one point ahead of the Bison who have 2 games in hand.

Peterborough’s recent league form has produced wins against Sheffield, Leeds and Raiders, while losing to Bracknell and Telford, the latter on home ice.
Their leading points scorers are Ales Padelek with 55 (28+27) from 37 games, followed by James Ferrara 51 (15+36) from 37 and Martin Susters on 49 (26+23) from 34 games.

Phantoms have collected just 504 penalty minutes so far this season making them the 2nd best disciplined team in the league after Swindon, Will Weldon with 62 minutes and Susters with 54 lead the way in the department.

This weekend’s games will be the 6th and 7th in the 8 game series, currently the Herd have won 3 of the 5 played, the 8th and final game of the regular season between the teams is on Saturday 14th March, in Basingstoke.

As has been the case in the majority of occasions when the Bison and Phantoms have faced each other, this weekend will likely see another pair of close, edge of the seat games, with the result in doubt until the final buzzer.
