WEEKEND PREVIEW: BIG WEEKEND FOR THE HERD AS THE RACE FOR PLAY OFF PLACES HOTS UP

This weekends NIHL National league action sees the Trane Basingstoke Bison at home to Leeds Chiefs on Saturday, and away to MK Lightning on Sunday.

Saturday’s game at the Silverdome which has a 6.30pm face off, will be the Chiefs 3rd appearance in Basingstoke this season, but only their 2nd as the visiting side.

WEEKEND PREVIEW: Raiders On The Road in Only Game for the Herd

It’s just the one NIHL National league game for the Trane Basingstoke Bison this weekend, with a trip to the Sapphire Ice & Leisure centre in Romford on Sunday, where Ash and the boys will take on the Raiders IHC, face off is 5.15pm.

Raiders occupy 8th place and are just 2 points ahead of Bracknell in the race for the final play off spot, both teams have 14 games still to play, including 4 against each other.

Raiders recent form shows wins at home against MKL & Bracknell, with away losses to Sheffield, MKL and the Bison.

Leading points scorers are import forward Lukas Sladkovsky with 41 (17+24) from 37 games, and Blahoslav Novak 39 (21+18) also from 37 games, heading the goal scoring for the Raiders is a certain Aaron Connolly, who has found the net on 25 occasions, including 4 in the defeat to the Steeldogs.

Raiders total of 891 penalty minutes are the highest in the league, Jack Flynn with 121 mins and Mason Webster with 115 lead the naughty boy chart.

Sunday’s game is the 8th and final game of the regular season series, the Herd having won 6 of the previous 7, the most recent being last Saturday’s thrilling 4-3 home win, in which the Bison having been 0-3 down to a Brandon Ayliffe hat trick, equalised at 59.57 through Ash Tait, before Richard ‘Bordo’ Bordowski netted the winner at 64.58.


If the previous games this season between the two teams are anything to go by, Sunday will be another close actioned packed thriller.
