UPDATE ON PLANET ICE BASINGSTOKE

Further to the briefing note issued by Basingstoke Council on the 24th June 2020 Planet ice felt it was appropriate to expand on the contents of the note and are delighted that all of the parties involved are keen to work together to overcome the historic obstacles and to obtain a positive outcome for the communities of Basingstoke and the surrounding area.

Bison 2 Year Contract Player Confirmed for 2020 / 21 Season

The Trane sponsored Basingstoke Bison are pleased to confirm that all players who signed a 2 year deal with the club at the start of 2019 / 20 will be back to fulfil the second year of their contracts.

The players who are lacing them up for the second year are:

Adam Harding
Elliott Dewey
George Norcliffe
Alex Sampford
Ryan Sutton
Jay King

Coach Tait is delighted that the players will be back in the line up for 2020 / 21 season and commented,

“It was always key for the Herd to return these guys on the second year of their contracts as it gives the club a returning core and a continuity that’s vital for us if we are going to keep improving and challenge for silverware”.

Player Bios:
27 year old Welsh forward Adam Harding starts his third season in a Bison jersey having joined the Herd in the December of 2018 / 19 season, last season Adam scored 52 points in 46 games (14 goals & 38 assists) whilst taking 40 minutes in penalties. Adam previously iced for Cardiff Devils, Manchester Storm and Dundee Stars in the EIHL and both the EPIHL and NIHL with the Swindon Wildcats.

Last seasons Club Captain Elliott Dewey commences his fourth season in a Bison uniform, Elliott iced in 46 games last term and scored 7 points whilst taking 40 minutes in penalties. 23-year-old, Elliott previously iced for the Invicta Dynamo’s in the NIHL and played his Junior hockey in both Slough and Basingstoke.

26-year-old, power forward George Norcliffe hails from Guildford and joined the Herd at the start of 2018 / 19 season prior to joining the Herd George played for the Solent and Gosport Devils before moving to the Wightlink Raiders, Streatham and Bracknell Bees. Last season despite suffering a knee injury George played in 30 games for the Herd scoring 13 goals and 11 assists whilst sitting 22 minutes in penalties.

Basingstoke born forward Alex Sampford starts his fourth season in a Bison uniform, the 23 year old is a product of the Basingstoke Junior system, who has previously played for Solent, the Isle of Wight and Streatham as well as Basingstoke Buffalo in the 2013/14 season. Last season, Alex played 42 games for the Bison netting 42 points (22 goals & 20 assists) and taking 54 minutes in penalties,

25 year old, Ryan Sutton is another local born player and will ice in his fifth season with the Herd, Ryan rejoined the Herd for the start of the last campaign from our old foes Bracknell Bees. Ryan has experience of playing overseas when he iced for the Komoka Dragons and Tottenham Steam during the 2016 / 17 season as well as donning a Bison jersey in the EPIHL and icing for the Basingstoke Buffalo in the NIHL 2.

Scottish born defenceman Jay King is returning to the Bison line up for a third season having last term iced in 44 games scoring 10 points (1 goal and 9 assists) and amassing 79 minutes in penalties. Prior to joining the Herd at the start of 2018 / 19 season 24 year old Jay iced in the Elite League with the his home town team the Edinburgh Capitals as well as icing in the past for the SNL Edinburgh Capitals.

Tonight (Tuesday) at 7.30pm local born forward Ryan Sutton will be taking over our regular Tuesday night “Ask The” over on the clubs official Instagram feed @ “bstokebisonofficial” as the last of our returning multi-year contracted players. So get your questions in ready for Sutt’s to reply to.
