The Trane sponsored Basingstoke Bison are pleased to be able to confirm that our Equipment Manager Gary Mitchell has been appointed as Equipment Manager for the Great Britain U16 ice hockey team who are scheduled to play in a tournament in Latvia in 2021 against teams from the hockey powerhouses of Russia, Finland, Sweden, Belarus and Ukraine.

Ice Hockey UK formally announced the appointments earlier today and Coach Tait commenting on Gary’s appointment said,

”Gary has been instrumental in everything we as a club have delivered in the last 2 years, it is testament to his professionalism and attitude with all the roles he takes on week in week out that Ice Hockey UK have come a calling to utilise these skills”.

Bison’s John Neville commented,
”Everyone at the Bison is so proud, pleased and delighted for Gary with his appointment into the Great Britain set-up, as Ash says it’s testament to his skills and dedication, we can’t thank Gary enough for all the work he puts in week in, week out as a part of our off ice-team”.

Neville continued,

I’m sure I speak on behalf of all our fans and hockey family in congratulating Gary on his appointment.

David Hand, chairman of the Great Britain Programme Board, speaking on behalf of Ice Hockey UK, said:

"We had a fantastic response to the advertised positions and the four successful applicants were very impressive in their interviews.
