Back Room Staff & the Voice of the Herd Back for 2021 / 22

The Basingstoke Bison are pleased to confirm that our Back-room staff and the Voice of the Herd Daren Bavister will all be back with the Herd for the 2021 / 22 season.

Recently appointed GB U16 Equipment Manager Gary Mitchell, Medic Glenn Wells and Sports Massage therapist Phil Barratt of Physique Bodyworks have all confirm that they will be continuing their roles for the forthcoming campaign/

With the announcement that remainder of the off-ice team are also back for a fourth year Coach Tait commented,

“It’s great news that the guys are back for the new season, the work our backroom team do to prepare the players for each and every game which our fans don’t see is second to none and I thank Gary, Glenn & Phil for their commitment to the club and we look forward to working with them all again next season”.

The return of the “Voice of the herd” Daren Bavister is the final piece of the jigsaw for the off-ice team.

There’s more to Hockey Night in Basingstoke than ice hockey hockey! Bavy has become the face and voice of Bison hockey as he entertains the fans throughout the game. His tunes and his banter energise fans and players alike.

On his return to the Herd for 2019 / 20 season Daren commented,

“The last 12 months have been challenging for everyone, no words can describe our individual journeys through the pandemic. To be invited to return, to be rejoining the “family”, to just be in our barn with the wall of sound in front of me feels like we are at last waking from a terrible dream.

Can we start tomorrow?”

After all Sister Sledge put it so succinctly...we are family”.

Bison’s John Neville commented,

“In my eyes ‘Bavy’ is the best in the business and the catalyst to what makes a supporters night one of the most entertaining in ice hockey across the UK for sure we are fortunate to have him”.
John continued,

“With the league announcement on Wednesday and the coaching team back for 2021 / 22 it was important to Ash and me that we kept the band together, these guys have all been integral parts of the clubs success over the last few seasons and we all can’t wait for the start of the season, that opening night really will be a big party”.
