Goalie Duo Confirmed for the 2021/22 Season

The Basingstoke Bison are pleased to confirm that both Alex Mettam and Dan Weller-Evans will be guarding the cage for the forthcoming season.

With the coaching and back-room team confirmed over the last few days, Coach Tait is pleased that player recruitment is going well and that he has secured the services of his regular netminding tandem.

Commenting on the start of his roster building Ashley said,

I don't think there has ever been a question as to whether i would look to make any changes when it comes to Mettsy and Dan. Both guys have a first-class attitude day in day out whether that is in practice or games. They constantly push each other, work together and they put the team first regardless of who gets the start that night. I'm really excited to be working with them once again.

Sheffield Born 33-year-old Alex returns to the Herd for a fourth term having previously iced for the Bracknell Bees, Milton Keynes Lightning and the Guildford Flames in EPIHL.
Alex commenting on being back with the Herd had this to say,

After a year off the ice I cant wait to back to the rink and get back to some sort of normality. It will be great to be back with the guys in the locker room and we can look forward to seeing the fans back in the rink in September.
Alex continued,

Im really excited to have Dan (Weller Evans) back as well and between us we will be doing our very best to give the team a chance to win every night in our quest to win silverware.

27-year-old Welsh born netminder Dan Weller Evans is back for his eighth season in a Bison Jersey and had this to say about inking a new deal,

Ive said it a thousand times, but I am absolutely delighted to be able to put on my hometown club's jersey for another season, Basingstoke is my home and there is nowhere else I would rather play my hockey than for the club I dreamed of playing for as a youngster.

Being back alongside Alex (Mettam) is amazing, we have clicked since day one and we will be doing our best to contribute to the teams success. I know Ash, Tosh and John are continuing to build on what we started 3 years ago and Im so happy to continue to be a part of that.

Dan continued,

Its been a really challenging year for everyone and I hope that when we take to the ice in the 2021/22 season it gives people the boost they need. I cannot wait to get on the ice with the boys again and play in front of the best and most loyal fans in British Ice Hockey. Keep going Bison fans, we will all be together again soon! We really have missed you!'
