The GalxC Cooling Services Basingstoke Bison are excited to announce the formal launch of the Bison Academy .

The Academy will be our way of developing home grown local talent who can play at NIHL level for either the Buffalo and ultimately the Bison, from players who live in the local area or a radius of 30 miles and want to develop their skills to the next level.

The Academy has its own logo and this will be proudly adjourned on each players jersey who ices for the Herd on the rear of the shirt where the Player Sponsor logo is located.

Bison Assistant Coach Tony Redmond who will be heading up the Academy commented,

“Historically there has been a disconnect between the Bison and our own Junior Development Programme meaning opportunities to develop local talent was at a minimum. By creating the Academy this will ensure a clear pathway and opportunity for the next generation of Bison stars. We will be working  very closely with Ryan (Cathcart) and Simon (Beere) to ensure we meet our ultimate goal of producing locally home grown  talent to be Bison stars of the future”.

With the Academy project commencing this season we are pleased to reveal that the GalxC Cooling Services  Basingstoke Bison’s first Academy signing is Jack Peacock who will play for the Bison for the remainder of the 22/23 season.

Redmond commented,

“Jack was invited to join us for training and really impressed with his ability, attitude and work ethic. He has  taken this into games and performed very creditably and is fully deserving of this opportunity. We are delighted to have him on board for the remainder of the season”.

On being the first player to come from the Academy sessions Jack said,

“I am really pleased to be joining the Bison for the rest of the season, and I’m excited for the challenge ahead. I think this is a great opportunity to make that jump and to take the next steps to become a better hockey player. The guys in the room are great and have supported me through every mistake and every achievement. The setup that the academy offers is a great thing, and I hope to see it pay off in the long run with good quality talent progressing through the junior system and into the Bison2.

Jack will wear the number 50 jersey for the Herd and his light, dark and home warm-up jerseys are now available for supporters to have the opportunity to purchase and loan back to the club through our ever popular Jersey “Own & Loan” scheme, if you are interested in applying for one of Jacks jerseys please send your application to hello@bstokebison.co.uk
