Welcome back Josh

The Stampede to the 2022 / 23 Season starts here!

The GalxC Cooling Services Basingstoke Bison have news for you every day and for the next few days and we start with a “welcome home” story.

Rumours were buzzing and we can confirm the ink is dry on the contract, as exclusively revealed by the Basingstoke Gazette earlier today, your GalxC Cooling Services sponsored Basingstoke Bison are pleased to confirm the thrilling news that young British defender Josh Kelly will once again be pulling on a Bison jersey after a spell with the Bees IHC.

Josh played the majority of his junior career in the Guildford system before attending the Okanagan Hockey Academy, he then iced overseas in Sweden with IFK Osteraker before joining the Herd in the autumn of 2018.

22 year old Basingstoke born Kelly previously played for the Bison between 2018 and 2020, making a total of 76 appearances, scoring 7 points (1+6) and incurring 42 penalty minutes.

When you add in 69 NIHL games during his time with the Bees, that amounts to a great deal of experience for someone of a young age and will no doubt be a quality addition to the Bisons defensive unit.

Bison Head Coach Ashley Tait had this to say regarding Josh’s return to the Herd,

“I’m excited to be working with Josh again. I know his compete level from playing against him and I think he’s got a great base to work from and help him get to where he wants to be”.

Josh himself commented,

“It’s great to be returning back to the Bison! After a brief spell away I can’t wait to be back and playing in front of my home town fans and the mighty wall of sound. See you all in the new season”.

Keep your eyes peeled this weekend Bison fans on the social feeds and website as we start to reveal more of our plans in preparation for the 2022 / 23 season.
