As the “Stampede” towards the 2022 / 23 season gains pace the GalxC Cooling Services sponsored Basingstoke Bison are pleased to announce the re-signing of fans favourite, and last seasons Defenceman of the Year Jay King for the 2022/23 National League season.

For 26 year old, 5’ 10”, 79kg, Edinburgh born King this will be his 4th season with the Bison, having joined us from Edinburgh Capitals, who at the time were an Elite League team, during his 6 seasons with the Capitals he made in excess of 260 appearances.

Jay’s debut season with the Herd, 2018/19, saw him make a total of 48 appearances, score 20 points (4+16) & pick up 42 penalty minutes.

Over the course of the next 2 seasons King pulled on the number 77 jersey a further 99 times, scoring 21 points (2+19) accruing 130 penalty minutes.

Hard working every night on the ice, happy to interact with the fans off it, Jay King’s return will be well received by the Bison family.

Head Coach Ash Tait commenting on King’s return said,

“Kingers got better every year and I expect that to continue. I think there were a few realisations for him last year that have had a positive affect on his performances. He’s another one I expect to thrive on increased responsibility”.

Jay himself had this to say about re-signing with the Herd,

“I am really really looking forward to be back playing in front on the best fan base in the league and hopefully we can push for some silverware this season as it is long over due, see you all in September”.
