The GalaxC Cooling Services Basingstoke Bison are pleased to announce that local born netminder Jordan Lawday is coming home and has signed for the team for the remainder of the 2021 / 22 season.

Basingstoke born Lawday returns to Basingstoke to ice for the club where he fulfilled a promising junior career culminating with international honours with Great Britain U18 team.

After a promising junior career Jordan iced for one in season in North America playing for the Soo Indians U18 AAA team before returning home for the 2017 / 18 to ice in Cardiff with the Fire whilst also training with the EIHL Devils During the 2018 /19 season Jordan was selected for the NIHL 1 South First All Star team as well as well as winning a Bronze medal at the U20 (D2A) World Championships whilst representing Great Britain.

In 2018 / 19 he joined the Milton Keynes Thunder and then went onto to ice for Milton Keynes Lightning in 2019 / 20 season.

Jordan joined the Sheffield Steeldogs for the NIHL Spring Series in 2021 which the Steeldogs won winning all 12 games played, before this season joining the Telford Tigers and recording a save percentage of .897 in league play.

With the release of Filip Martinec last week Coach Tait has moved quickly the bolster the ranks and commented,

“When I knew Jordan was available, I obviously had to think long and hard about bringing him in, but I also knew his addition would make us stronger as a team as we all know the job Jordan has done playing against us..

When Dan got hurt a few weeks back we became pretty vulnerable and the constant searching for back ups just isn’t a feasible way to move forward.

We’re now stronger at the back and as the season progresses, we’ll benefit from the 3 of them being available”.

Jordan commenting on joining for his hometown club said,

“I’m extremely excited to get started with the Bison it’s been a dream of mine for a long time to be able to play for them one day, especially after coming up through the junior system and playing all my junior hockey in Basingstoke.

I’m looking forward to being able to wear a bison jersey and playing in front of such a great and noisy fan base”

Jordan will wear the number 33 jersey for the Herd for the remainder of the 2021 / 22 and his light and dark jerseys priced at £125.00 each and his home warm-up jersey priced at £100.00 are now available for supporters to have the opportunity to purchase and loan back to the club through our ever-popular Jersey “Own & Loan” scheme.
