As the Bison Stampede into 2022 / 23 gathers momentum and as exclusively revealed earlier today in the Basingstoke Gazette, the GalxC Cooling Services Basingstoke Bison are thrilled to announce the signing of Latvian born, British trained Edgars Landsbergs for the 2022/23 Planet Ice National League season.
Although the 23 year old, 5’ 11”, 77kg Landsbergs originates from Latvia, he isn’t considered an import due to his development taking place in the UK as part of the Coventry Blaze junior programme where he played in their U16 & U18 teams, along with a season at the renowned Okanagan Hockey Academy which sees him classified as British trained.
Edgars joins the Herd having been released by MK Lightning at the end of last season, where he made 53 appearances scoring 9 points (3+6) & incurring 21 penalty minutes.
Prior to his time in Buckinghamshire, Landsbergs played for MKS Cracovia Krakow in the Poland2 league, making 10 appearances in the Covid interrupted 20/21 season, bagging 8 points (4+4).
Before making the move to Europe, Edgars spent 4 years in the Canadian & US development leagues, racking up a total of 138 games & scoring 57 points (26+31).
No doubt fans of the Stampede who saw Landsbergs play against us last season will remember him to be a player they are looking forward to seeing in a Bison jersey.

I think Edgar’s will fit in well And adds some valuable depth for us. I see him playing through the line up when needed in all situations.
Edgars himself had this to say about joining the Herd,
“I’m excited to be part of the Bisons this year and can’t wait for the season to start. I’m excited to see all the fans and give it my all this year!”
Edgars will wear the number 17 jersey for the Herd in 2022 / 23 and his light, dark and home warm-up jerseys are now available for supporters to have the opportunity to purchase and loan back to the club Edgar’s jersey through our ever popular Jersey “Own & Loan” scheme, if you are interested in applying for one of Edgar’s jerseys please send your application to hello@bstokebison.co.uk
